The Indian Stock Market has opened lower on April Future & Options expiry day as global cues weigh on India. The Sensex is down 20.47 points at 26043.65 and the Nifty is down 11.45 points at 7968.45. About 292 shares have advanced, 163 shares declined, and 35 shares are unchanged. Bharti Airtel, Cipla, ONGC, Sun Pharma and Coal India are top gainers in the Sensex while Maruti, Infosys, ITC, HDFC and Reliance are losers. The Bank of Japan (BOJ) left monetary policy steady, surprising several market players who were widely expecting a hefty dose of stimulus. The central bank maintained its negative 0.1 percent deposit rate and its 80 trillion yen base money target. However, it did leave the door open to additional easing steps and said it will provide loans at zero interest rates to areas impacted by the recent Kyushu earthquakes.

Domestic and global cues indicate a green opening for the Nifty on Wednesday. SGX Nifty was trading at 7,972 level, up 7.50 point at 7:43 AM. On Tuesday, market staged a spectacular comeback after a sluggish start. Nifty rallied over 100 points led mainly by largecaps and banks. Fourth quarter earnings of telecom giant Bharti Airtel and YES Bank will be closely watched today. In global markets, US stocks closed mixed with energy leading ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s crucial meeting. However, Nasdaq 100 futures fell more than a percent in after-trade on back of disappointing earnings from Apple.
